A bomb exploded in a Moscow suburb Wednesday, just two days after a car bomb exploded about 1,000 feet away.

Russian police said that two police officers noticed a suspicious man near a police car. When they approached, a blast detonated, killing the man and the two officers.

“Investigators and forensic experts from the Moscow Investigative Committee are continuing to examine the scene of the incident,” Svetlana Petrenko, a representative for the investigative committee, said in a statement.

Police are also studying surveillance video and interviewing witnesses to uncover the perpetrator, the statement added.

Moscow traffic police said Ilya Klimanov, 24, and Maksim Gorbunov, 25, were killed in the blast.

On Monday, a senior Russian general in charge of training was killed by a car bomb outside his home near today’s blast. Authorities said the attack may have been carried out by Ukrainian intelligence.

Lt. Gen. Fanil Sarvarov, 56, head of the Operational Training Directorate at the General Staff, died of his injuries after a device planted beneath his vehicle detonated at an apartment building Petrenko told TASS, the Russian news agency.

In April, Lt. Gen. Yaroslav Moskalik, was killed by a car bomb as he left his apartment in Balashikha, east of Moscow. Moskalik led the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff.

In August 2022, Darya Dugina, daughter of a Putin supporter and Russian nationalist, was killed by a car bomb in a village 25 miles southwest of Moscow.
