Toronto police said shots were fired at the U.S. consulate in downtown Toronto early Tuesday, though no injuries were reported.

Toronto Police Services said on X that there was a “firearm discharge” at the building around 5:29 a.m. and that “evidence of a firearm discharge has been located.”

In a later post, it said there were no suspects and police were on the scene investigating.

Images on television showed what appear to be two marks from bullets in a glass door at the entrance, The New York Times reported.

The U.S. consulate is on University Avenue, and part of that road was closed in the morning. The building is often the scene of anti-American protests, including one this weekend against the U.S. action in Iran, The Times reported.
