Cunard is refurbishing its iconic Queen Elizabeth luxury ocean liner to prepare it for Caribbean and Alaska voyages in 2025.
“As Queen Elizabeth prepares for her highly anticipated debut seasons in the Caribbean from Miami and Alaska from Seattle, this transformation marks an exciting new chapter for Cunard,” Cunard President Katie McAlister said Thursday in a news release. Advertisement
“Inspired by the beauty of these extraordinary destinations, the ship’s revitalization will seamlessly blend timeless elegance with modern comforts, creating an unparalleled guest experience,” McAlister added.
The luxury ship that carries up to 2,000 passengers will undergo a refitting in February and March at the Seatrium Admiralty Yard in Singapore to prepare it for the summertime Alaska voyages from Seattle that start in June.
“Queen Elizabeth’s transformation will feature refreshed signature interiors and exteriors designed to capture both tranquility and vibrancy,” Cunard announced.
The refurbishment will “thoughtfully revitalize” the Commodore Club, Queens Room, Garden Lounge and The Pavilion.
It also will transform the Grills suites with “sumptuous furnishings, sophisticated detailing and thoughtful design to deliver the ultimate in comfort and style,” Cunard said.
The Grills refurbishment will include a new menu created by chef Michel Roux and a three-course evening menu. Advertisement
“This project allows me to blend my passion for fine dining with the timeless elegance and sophistication that define the Cunard Grills experience,” Rioux said. “Each dish is carefully created to celebrate the finest ingredients, ensuring every meal is as special as the voyage itself.”
Passengers also have the option of dining at the new Pavilion Wellness Café, which recently debuted on Cunard’s Queen Anne luxury liner and serves plant-based foods and sustainably sourced fish, meat and dairy for breakfast, lunch and daytime dining.
After its refurbishment, the Queen Elizabeth will undertake Caribbean voyages from Miami starting in October after the traditional Atlantic storm season has concluded.
The Caribbean voyages will last between nine and 28 nights and get underway on Oct. 16 with a planned 12-night voyage to the UNESCO world heritage site in Bridgetown, Barbados, and Castries, St. Lucia.
The vessel also will visit Montego Bay in Jamaica, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and St. John’s, Antigua, during its various Caribbean cruises.
Including the Queen Elizabeth, Cunard has four luxury liners. The other three are the Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and the recently launched Queen Anne, which entered service in May.
