Chile-based LATAM Group said it has placed an order for up to 74 aircraft from Brazilian manufacturer Embraer. The E195-E2 narrow-body aircraft will join the fleet of Latin America’s largest airline group, with 24 firm orders and 50 purchase options.

The 24-aircraft order is valued at about $2.1 billion at list prices, the company said in a press release. Deliveries will begin in the second half of 2026, starting with LATAM Airlines Brazil, and could in the future be operated by other subsidiaries in the group.

Since 2021, LATAM has expanded its passenger network from 129 to 160 destinations, a 24% increase.

“Over the past four years, LATAM Group has focused on expanding its domestic and regional network,” said Roberto Alvo, CEO of LATAM Airlines Group.

He said the decision to choose Embraer’s E195-E2 aircraft was based on the plane’s efficiency and versatility, which will allow LATAM to “strengthen connectivity by opening new destinations.”

Embraer is a global aerospace company based in Brazil that manufactures aircraft for commercial and executive aviation, defense and security, and agriculture.

Founded in 1969, the company has delivered more than 9,000 aircraft worldwide. Embraer says one of its planes takes off every 10 seconds on average, carrying more than 150 million passengers a year.

Known for producing commercial jets with up to 150 seats, the company is also Brazil’s leading exporter of high-value manufactured goods. It has facilities in the Americas, Africa, Asia and Europe.

Francisco Gomes Neto, president and CEO of Embraer, emphasized that the strategic alliance with LATAM reflects the airline’s need to have “efficient and suitable aircraft for its next phase of growth, connecting more destinations with the right capacity and offering greater comfort to passengers.”

Embraer says the E195-E2 is the largest aircraft in its next-generation E-Jet family and offers competitive per-seat costs for markets that would be oversupplied with larger planes. The model also burns up to 30% less fuel and provides greater passenger comfort with its 2-2 cabin layout.

In 2024, LATAM reported total operating revenue of $13.03 billion, up 10.6% from 2023. It closed the year with net income of $977 million, nearly double the previous year’s earnings.
