A deadly tornado hit China’s Huanggang in Hubei province destroying buildings and killing 11 people and injuring more than 300, including one man who was sucked from a 12th-story apartment.
There were 331 people injured in the storms that had winds up to 160 mph late Monday. The Xinhua news agency said the storms destroyed homes, overturned cars and damaged farmland. More than 4,855 houses were damaged in Hubei, a car manufacturing hub.
A man, 30, was sucked from his 12th-floor apartment along with his sofa and cabinets. He is now in intensive care in a hospital, local news reports said.
Huanggang is about 50 miles from Wuhan.
Eric Wang, a Chinese storm chaser, posted on X that this storm is China’s deadliest tornado since one hit Funing in June 2016 killing 98 people.
